Our client couldn’t decide whether to remove or improve the existing swimming pool and associated pool building, so two different design options were drawn up. In the end the pool was removed and we are really excited about the completed garden.

The existing garden is already an impressive and attractive feature, with views across a large lawn to mature trees and hedges which create a dense boundary. The design has created visual interest near to the house, while retaining the long views of the garden and trees beyond. The newly extended kitchen opens through folded doors onto a large stone paved sun terrace with blocks of perennial and herb planting softening the areas near to the house. A lavender and salvia, box hedge parterre gardens now extends across the back of the terrace with several grass paths leading out onto the expansive lawn, while three salvaged urns help to divide the terrace from the rest of the garden.

The existing unused pool house has been converted into a beautiful open sided outdoor dining room with views across the parterre garden and out towards new areas of meadow which sweep through the existing young orchard and out into the garden. The previous paving has been used to create a stepping stone walkway through the woodland area to one side of the garden, while an old fallen fountain has been broken up to create interesting statues along the new woodland walk.
